Wood Fence is still a Classic
We try to source our wood from local yards, when possible.
What kind of wood fences do we recommend?
- Rough Redwood or Cedar. Used for classic "dog ear" picket fences and other entry-level price point projects.
- Clear Redwood or STK Cedar. STK stands for select tight knots. AAA premium grade. Smooth either on one side, called S1S, or smooth on all sides, called S4S.
- Exotic Hardwood. The gold standard is Brazilian ipe wood. Very dense and heavy. These types of woods are also used for decking and siding.
- Other types of hardwood we commonly work with: Kayu Batu, golden balau, tigerwood, garapa, and African mahogany.
- For posts and framing, these types of fences will most commonly use pressure treated wood.
- You can use premium redwood or hardwood posts too, if your budget allows.
