Your front gate is where you greet the world, and the world greets you.
Your front gate needs to be functional, secure, and beautiful.
Burhardt Custom fabricates and installs front gates like pedestrian and driveway gates for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
OUR WORK
/ gates
Front pedestrian gates from Burkhardt Custom are customarily made using a steel frame to provide a strong and long-lasting gate frame.
We do not build our gate frames using wood as these fail much quicker than steel frames.
For example, you can add a deadbolt for added security or self-closing hinges to ensure your gate closes behind you every time.
Premium versions of these hardware choices include hinges with adjustable timing to prevent slamming or smart electronic style deadbolts.
When designing your custom gates, you can upgrade from standard hinges and a handle or knob to augment the security and functionality of your gate.
We recommend the commercial-grade Lockey locks that feature a digital keycode but are mechanical versus electronic.

Swinging driveway gates are the operator of choice for locations where there is no room for a sliding gate.
Swinging gates can be swingle-swing or double-swing, meaning there is either one gate door or two gates doors respectively.
There are also different types of gate operators for swinging gate systems to accomodate limited space.
Standard operator systems tend to use an arm connected to a circular drive wheel, while others are mounted directly to the frame of the gate.
Often times these gates might need to open inward and at an incline; we custom fabricate the gates and hinges to accomodate for this.
As with our pedestrian gates, your custom swinging driveway gate frame will be fabricated using steel to ensure the strongest and most durable build.

Sliding driveway gates tend to be the option of choice when space permits as this method allows for the maximum use of your driveway space.
Most times a sliding driveway gate is being installed along with a new fence line to match along the front of the property.
The operators most often use a chain link drive system that require an extra 18" to 36" of gate frame beyond the width of the driveway.
Another type uses a rack and pinion system which doesn't need the extra length on the frame.
The sliding gate will usually run behind the fence when opened.
Sliding gates can also, of course, be operated manually.

Telescopic sliding gates are more advanced designs that give the option to add a sliding gate when the space for the gate to travel is limited.
For example, a regular sliding gate needs at least the same width of the driveway plus 18 to 36 inches for the forementioned tail.
A telescopic sliding gate uses two or three separate gate "leaves" or panels, each on their own track, staggered about 4" apart when closed.
When opened, the multiple panels "stack" behind each other to only require about half to one-third of the space of the width of the driveway.
However, many driveways do not have this amount of adjacent space.
This space-saving design is a clever engineering solution.
